A +35 offset will place the tires further out than the stock +42. So it shouldn't rub, but may stick out. The higher the offset, the farther from the center of the wheel the mounting surface is, and the farther it brings the wheel into the fenderwell.

cool thx for the input. i'm so dumb b/c of course if it's not lowered it wouldn't rub even if the wheels are futher out from the car, it would just look odd.

any idea how much it would stick out? would it definitely stick out from the wheel wells?

Depends on the width of the new wheel vs the stock wheel (6.5")If you're putting on a 17x7 Rim, it's gonna stick out about 1/2" more than the stock one. It shouldn't be too noticable.
If the new wheel has less offset, add the offset difference to 1/2 the difference in width between the 2 rims. If the new wheel has more offset, subtract the offset difference.
