Odd question about wheels....

OK, this is probably a tuffy, but I'll try it...
Can anyone give me a ball park estimate of the weight distribution between the rim and the spokes on a wheel. I know every one is going to be different, but what's a ballpark guess? 50/50, 70/30, anyone have an idea? I want to figure out how light of a 17" rim I would need to match the rolling inertia of my 15" Si rims. Just wondering.... I'm sure they'll come out too light for me to afford

klam is an unknown quantity at this point
It really depends on which wheel model.

Interesting idea, but it would be nearly impossible to guesstimate it and know if it is wrong or right without any advanced technology to measure it.

An easier way to look at it is, all rims need that circumference rim part, and for the most part they are very similar for all 17" rims. Of course different wheels/manufacturers will have different densities, etc. The spokes and interior is what differs from wheel to wheel the most.

The best way to find a wheel with the lowest rotating inertia may be to consider the overall wheel weight and then consider the amount of "material" in the spokes and centre part.

Yes... it will vary and without fancy equipment it will be hard to make it exact. I know this. I'm just trying to figure out an estimation... Say, a 17" wheel with 6 spokes....
I know this...
The Inertia of the rim is mass*radius^2
Each spoke has an inertia of (1/3)* mass of spoke *length of spoke^2
I'll neglect the hub inertia because it is so close to the center of rotation.
I also know the weights of all the wheels I want to analyze like this, so all I need is some spoke mass to rim mass numbers (the hard part)

haha, this is half the battle, whats the intertia for your stock 15's? Good luck with this And remember, go smaller diameter to increase gearing, much more fun to drive

Hopefully Honda knows... They designed the Si rims.
