Anyone tried Whistler 1780 radar detector?

I found this crap do nothing to me except it alerts me when i get close to supermarket.
this is actually not a radar detector but a
SUPERMARKET detector!!!!

sport compact car said this was good product for the price. thanks for advice though, i guess i won't be spending my money on this thing.

I have one, got it off ebay. sure it detects the supermarket but ALL radar detectors do...the supermarket door openers use radar...your radar detector detects radar...hence the reason all radar detectors detect supermarkets...theres really no way around it except turning off the X band completely (city mode 2 i think). What I really want is the Valentine One which is the mother of all radar detectors (not only does it tell you if it detects radar but it tells you where the radar is coming from and how many there are, which pretty much solves your problem...but it costs $400)

I would spend the 400 on the Valentine One. I am borrowing a friends right now and probably would have been caught going 15 or more over the limit on at least 2 occassions where the cop was out of direct sight. But that thing alerted me early on that radar was present and I slowed down and went on just fine.
