2003 Civic Fuel System
My Window Sticker on the 2003 Said:
1.7 L VTEC Engine
127 HP
Flow Back Fuel System
Now, I'm lazy and I have not looked, but doesn't this suggest to you that they have done away with the returnless fuel system??

I highly doubt it. When I got my car it says it came with the VTEC-E and not regular SOHC VTEC. The only differences between the years would be cosmetic. All the mechanical parts and systems would be the same

every post says add-ons don't do much for out car because or the ULEV crap and the returnless fuel system. Can anybody tell me why the returnless fuel system affects performance? I've read a lot about it on the internet and all I can come up with is that it is just costly to maintain. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG]

Where is the valve that only allows uni-directional flow?(assuming it's a valve) if not is there any way to modify they system to allow back flow?
It's not a valve. It's missing the whole return line. Acually there is a return line, its in the gas tank. The 6th gen had everything in the engine while we have everything right by the gas tank (fuel regulator, fuel pump...etc).
In order to have the return line in the engine you would need to move all that stuff in to the engine bay. I think it can be done its just that nobody that I know of has done it. Thats what I plan to do so that I can turbo my car. Even If I get a swap I would get the return line.
The EXs don't have the VTEC-E they have the regular SOHC VTEC. The HX has the VTEC-E.

Additional fuel hardware comes in the form of the 440RC injectors and the Walbro in-tank fuel pump."
I called DA, and whoever picked up the phone didn't know too much. he said he didn't know exactly what went into the fuel system, but the article did a pretty good job explaining it. I was like whatever and thanked him for his time and hung up. We have some damn good shops in MD and VA so they should be able to replicate this setup. BTW the HKS F-Con S piggyback engine management sytem tunes the A/F ratio.
I'll be attempting to do this before I get too serious about getting a turbo kit.

Rep Power: 0 I went through and read an older Car and Driver (Oct 01) in the Porche 911 Carrera article. Porche also utilizes a Returnless Fuel System for the benefit of cooler fuel. Cooler fuel reduces the risk of predetonation which in turn increases fuel efficiency.
A good analogy is a circle. At one end of the circle, there's a fuel tank and the line that goes from the fuel tank goes into the engine and any unused fuel will be promptly returned BACK to the fuel tank. That's how older gen Honda's can easily use a fuel pressure regulator for boosted applications to increase the vaccuum pressure for fuel to flow to engine. With a returnless fuel line any such modifications cannot be done mechanically but rather electronically via a stand alone or piggy bag computer.
