The basic one works. To with about 2/100 of a sec of track timing. But I bet you have to enter so much stuff about your car to get it to completely function, it just isn't worth it. Example... to get the HP, you need to know the exact weight of the car. That includes your fat ***, anything you have in the trunk, the weight of the gas in the tank, what evers in the glove box, and so on, then add the weight listed on the door. You'll never get close. Just go with the basic one, it gives you the important numbers. 0-60, 1/4 mile (the speed is off, but the timing is right), G force, 60-0 braking, and a few others. And I'd like to know how it can tell RPM's with just by pluging into the cig lighter outlet. You must have to tell it the redline for the shift light, but I still have no clue about how you'd make it read the rpms as they run up. The computer data link is cool... that way, you can run it all day and get the computer to store the numbers, rather than the thing clearing it every time you reset for another run.... that is, after you get everything programmed into the thing.
i have the new g-tech and it tells your RPMS my vibrations and yes there are a lot of calibrations to do with it but it does have a shift light that is very acurate. i have measure the g-tec with a spot that's a know quarter mile and it is on point. and yes i'm speeking of the new one. and it looks cool sittin on the dash or window.
its does:
RPMS
shift light
hp
torque
0-60
1/8 mile
1/4 mile
trap speed
lateral g forces
braking distance
and it can download to a computer for data analysis

I hear it's freakin awesome. My friend has one and he says the only thing you really neede to do is put in the weight of you and the car.
Thinking about getting one for myself.

Yeah I just got the new G-tech competition metter, its pretty nice. I've only tested it out twice, my best qquarter mile was a 16.1 but I missed a gear so it should have been better, it seemed pretty accurate, and the shift light is great, you can set it to turn the shift light on at any RPM you want, so you can see the light out of the corner of your eye and dont have to look down! It can also link to a PC and I guess theyre gunna make new software for it soon... I'll have to play with it more and post some results for you guys to check out.
