coupe is easier than a sedan, TRUST MEEEE i did both, an the sedan are harder to split open, but the coupe lights are harder to get the chrome piece out.but they both lookwhen cleared. it's catchin' on down here in new orleans, I've seen 2 other peeps with cleared lights.

You dont have to put them in oven, I did mines with a flat screwdriver and exacto, there is a DIY availlable too. Pry them with long nose plyers, it helps a lot.
If you need help PM me.

Supposedly it makes the adhesive sticky again and the 2 pieces will pull apart easier, The clear lens is Polycarbonate, so it shouldn't melt, but I don't know what the rest of the headlight assembly is made of. I plan on doing mine with an exacto, and a pair of hemostats, and a few surgical retractors. I work for an Orthopedics company, I can borrow stuff for the weekend.

It's really not that bad. I was a little unsure about the whole deal also, but it wasn't bad at all. Just follow the DIY and you'll be fine. -save you're self a couple bucks.

The only difference I know of is that the glue used on the sedan and on the coupe are different in color (and texture?)

Man, cut that oven crap out. Get yourself a heat gun from Sears or just a simple blow dryer. That way you can work with spots, instead of having the whole thing cool down on you while you're working on it.

And for the kid who said he's too afraid to clear his lights. I think we're all reluctant at first. You'll be surprised at how easy it is.

OMG, do I hae to agree. My sedan headlights were a pain to pry open, but the chrome piece was a cinch. Then I did my friends coupe, and the headlight split open no problem/no oven, but that chrome piece was a b*tch.

For the original question...yes, take the bulbs out first, and you only need to put them in the over for about 5-7 mins. If you have a heat gun, then better for you, but yeah, you might have to put it in a second time if the glue cools down mid project. Also, note that the glue from the sedan is some super-sticky stuff...I had trouble getting it off my tools. Een I was scared when I first did it, but once you finish it, the pride is unmeasureable.

Also, the coupe and sedan headlights ARE different. The size and shape may be the same, but there are differences. Like the coupe headlights have clips that hold them together also that the sedan doesnt have. Also just look at the housing for the main headlight (H4) bulb. The rubber piece is different on both. I'm sure there are other small differences too.

i just finished clearing my sedan headlights 10 min ago. heres what i did. I took them both off the car, i removed the light blubs and put one headlight at a time in the oven at 275 for 2 min. then i took them out and used a flat head screw driver to pry them apart and an exacto knife to cut as i went. The sedan lights have grey glue and it is super hard when cool and super stickey when heated up. you have to use some force to peel them apart. Then remove the phillips screw inside the housing take of the chrome and the orange. Then use some clear kitchen slicone to seal it back up. I am not very good around cars and i have been putting this project off for a while. I did it by myself and minus the cooking time and going to home depot to get the silicone it took me about an hour from take off to put on. go ahead and try it. its really not that hard, and feel free to e-mail me here if you have any questions. hope this helps
