wiring radar detector

i have an lx sedan and i just bought a radar detector and i was wondering where can i get power from to use it, my cigarette is powering my neons.. so either does anybody know where i can hook up my radar. or if there is another place i can get power for my neons? if so where are all the places to easily get power and how would i tap in to that source...

(my first car and i know almost nothin about running wires n stuff)

depending on how many neons, you could still run the detector off the power outlet too, but thats if you know nothing about running wires... pm me if you want some other options...

like i was thinking is there anyway i can get power from my overhead lights in the car to power my neons if i wanna stick one up there? and then i'd just use the cigarette plug for the radar detector.

cig plug for the radar detector is good, but try running the neons from the battery... run a wire with a fuse from the battery to the inside of the car... best way, then you dont have to worry about overloading a specific fuse and such..

(so how many wires will i have to run from the battery into the inside of the car.. one for each neon?)

run one from the battery to inside, then split it once inside... you can share it to everything... and from that wire you run another line with a switch on it back to under the hood for your washer LED's

so ive got it planned out i run a wire (not sure what gauge) from battery through firewall underneath dash and place fuse(what kinda fuse would i get) there, then i hook up my neons to that fuse along with another wire running back to my washer led's on the hood, right.

riley

There is a DIY on this site for mounting the radar detector by the rear view mirror, that is what I did.

Bel Radar Install

Its hardwired into the overhead lights like in the DIY. Do a search for Radar Detectors to find it.
