Help w/ Hard Wire Radar Det.

My girlfriend just bought me a radar detector a few days ago and i hated haveing that big cord hanging down so i tried the DIY. I followed everything carfully but when it's plugged in and the cars on it doesn't work.
Can anyone guess at what i might have done wrong[IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/IMG]

If you did the Hard Wire setup..where does the 'plugged in' come into play?

Go to best buy, buy a hard wire set up and then plug the setup into a fuse!! that is what i did and it works fine. Sits next to my driver's side A pillar out of the way.
