want to lower, but worry about handling
hey i'm thinking of getting new springs for the car, what type of spring do you guys prefer? i dont want it too low and scratch cause that would suck so bad. and also i heard once the car is lowered, handling will become a problem and will bounce alot. any experienced driver out there can give me some tips

just springs alone will be okay, only time it bounces is goin over bumps and uneven road but most benefit u will gain is the lowered look and better handling, car will make more controlable turns and more stable on high speed due to lower center of gravity(less air pass thru the bottom).H&R sport spring is just over $170 from tirerack.com.follow the instruction listed from one of our member and u cant go wrong to do it urself,hint.. u need to have more than just basic knowlege of skill in mechanical, good luck.

he is correct lowering the center of gravity of a car efficently improves handlings, hince the car is lower you have less body roll when in turns, strut bar is highly recommended IMHO because the car feels sloppy with springs and no strut
i have adjustable coilovers on mine and ive used it to raise it like well my car was hella low and i got new rims so i raised it a little and then when i got a body kit i raised it a little and then i raised it a little again so yea i love coilovers

On the other hand, you can buy a true coilover setup which includes both the adjustable springs and the struts in one package (as opposed to buying them separately). Tein and JIC are two companies that make them for our cars.

i got the neuspeed sports, it made the steering wheel easier to steer and i can take coners really sharp, unlike my friend's intrax springs, his are really bounce, mine rarely bounce compare to his.
note to that is i scrape speed bumps if i got faster than 5mph, and badly constructed roads are not your friend. most of the scraping is the exhaust, though.
it's so low now(in my opinion) i would've returned them if i got neuspeed race

your main concern shouldnt be what brand. it should be how low. basically what are you looking for? are you looking for performanc, just to kill fender gap or you want the slammed look? of course no one wants to scrape. but this also depends on your environment and how you drive. are you willing to drive more cautiously? also are you willing to spend money on a camber kit and aftermarket shocks?
Once you lower your car it will never ride as smooth as it used too. It will bounce more even if you buy konis only because the springs and shock are too damn stiff. It will ride good on good roads but suck on bad bumpy roads.

anything from neuspeed, H&R, eibach, or goldlines is good. although if you know me i always say neuspeed. thats just the best bang for buck IMO. alot of others however will say eibach but i think that neuspeed is just as good for $50 less... goldlines name isnt as big but their service is the best hands down. their springs are great and are cheap too. H&Rs arent low enough. neuspeed sports, eibach sportlines and goldlines all give about the same drop.

Koni's are great, but on broken roads or roads with lotsa holes you'll still feel it.
Bottom line, no upgrade can make the stock ride more comfortable, which means nothing can make modded suspensions ride better than stock. If you drop it, expect to lose the comfy stock ride. The only one thing you can do is a Prokit drop (1"), Eibach claims those springs ride exactly the same as stock. I have Sportlines which is one step lower, and the ride was very bad over downtown roads and slightly harder than stock now that I have Koni's.
IMO though I think it was well worth the money.
you'll have to get new SHOCKS eventually not strut bar bro...and your car handles better lowered...if you lower it with springs it prob. wont be very bouncy...coilovers it depends on how much you lower it, i lowered mine to the ground basically. yes it is bouncy but i love it i just need new shocks as we all will someday just me sooner than others.

Pedrito's right. I've heard from mechanics of snapping strut bars especially on lowered cars. Of coz I'm talking about those $20 Ebay ones, not name brands. Since the car's lowered the strut bar takes a lot more force, not to mention you'd likely start turning much faster, enjoying the lessened body roll, so the crappy strut bars bend if you're lucky, and snaps if you're not.
Definitely don't take a lowered car with crappy strut bars and no upgraded shocks to the tracks... Bye bye hood & engine.
