Pls confirm usefulness of sway bar

Ok... Before anyone scream SEARCH at me please read the contents of what I have to say first.

I remember some discussion earlier (initiated by me) about "putting thicker sway bar on upgraded (shocks) suspension causes the suspension to lose stability that the stiffer shocks have accomplished due to over-rigidity". This was basically the nutshell conclusion from either the Hondastyle or the Honda Tuning articles.

I find it very reasonable looking at it from a Physic's point of view. My question now:

Who has sport springs + Koni's + RSX or thicker sway bar and can confirm the difference of the thicker sway bar? I'm under the impression that with a lowered and stiff suspension that a sway bar will make the tail too rigid to turn gracefully. I.e., I'd think it'd ride grate for smooth track on a slammed car, but would not be practical for normal driving conditions?

very intuitive info regardin to a sway bar,in this case(yours),it will provide u with additional cornering power by lessen the rolling force from the chasis, bein rigid in a chasis is a plus to any car racer,u ever see the frame(roll bars) are welded together just for that reason?go for a thicker sway bar and stay outta trouble

I have koni shocks, eibach prokit springs, and the JDM RSX/Integra Type-R 22mm swaybar.

All I can say is, I don't know how I thought my car handled good before the swaybar.

Hmmm, ok. But did it affect your ride comfort? What stiffness level have you set for the Koni's?

Ride comfort stayed the same (if it had not gotten better), changing lanes became easier, a definate increase in lateral G's, and turning at all speeds became easier.

I usually keep my koni's set to 3/4 stiffness.

And during autocross events the car's push/understeer was dramatically reduced.

Hmmmmm... That's contrary to what I'd think would happen... Maybe I'll consider it. Next year's mod. Won't be able to pull much G's in Canadian winters anyway. Haha...

I say its the cheapest fastest most satisfying suspension modification available. I would recommend it. And the 22m Type-R JDM anti-swaybar is actually cheaper than aftermarket ones, and just as effective.

my question is it difficult to install on a civic that does not already have a sway bar...do you have to drill holes etc...

Well they use the same framing. now if they are exact, who knows as of yet. I just added the 19mm type S sway bar & a stripped bolt has it incomplete. Once on, I am sure it will make a difference. Wspecially after a lower tie rod, & the upper fron strut bars. I plan on picking up a front sway from a type S, to see if it fits and if I upgrade the back, I have to do the front somehow. :-)

it will make the car more neutral in the turns. prob be a little more stiff ride, but its all in what you want.
