Slammin 2002 Civic HX-NEED RECOMMENDATIONS

hey guys, i know I should have searched for help but I just couldn't find anything that could really help me. i want to slam my car about 3-3.5 inches , add a body kit (octane with jtautosytle rear bumber) and 17 in rims (tenzo type -c. these look just like racing hart c-2's and are half the price!). i want that lowrider effect with the partially hidden rear tires. you guys know what I mean. if i get just lowering springs, i know my shocks will need to be replaced as well. what type of lowering spring and shocks should I get? how about the camber kit? which cambers are the really good ones? and koni struts? do you recommend those as well? thanks, i appreciate all your help/

slammed look?? Go coilovers, springs wont give you a 3"drop, if your going to get koni's you might as well spend 200 bucks more and get a "true" coilover system, made to work together (BnG) the only one who makes it so far that i know of, i wouldn't get ingall camber kits cuz your going to a descent drop ingalls wont handle that much. Hope this helps, and CONGRATULATIONS krazyiebonet4l your the one millionth newbie that has asked the same question!!!

Hope this helps

I hope there arent speed bumps where you live. 3.5 drop and a body kit. That might be too low. But anyway, get coilovers and some koni's. Not sure on the camber kit. I need it too.

damn 3.5" drop WITH body kit? thats freakin(damn censor thing) hard right there... props if you could drive anywhere without scraping tho. a 3.5" drop is pretty low, but with a kit, damn good luck.. your probably going to be like 2"-3" off the ground. better make sure everythings stiff cause even braking might cause you to scrape(well, maybe not that bad). but ya like everyone said that is pretty low. you wont find any springs that will go this low and you probably wouldnt want to get springs cause after a week, i'm sure you'll get tired of it. you seem like you want the best for your car so ya go with what y2k2ciVic(y2k2ciVic, hehe i see you've been learning) has said. you HAVE to get aftermarket shocks, you HAVE to get a camber kit. so just get true coilovers such as b&g, tein, nex(version 2 should be out soon). you will be able to adjust the height on these so if you want, slam it 4" or raise it to stock(why would you want to do that tho?). true coilovers should run you about $800-1300. camber kit, around $155. you most likely have to gut out your front fender well and roll your rears. you might not have to roll the rears if you get a different offset tho. oh and with that low of a drop i highly recommend a urethene kit cause you'll probably crack a fiberglass within a couple days. but ya i highly suggest you study more. its not easy driving around with a 3.5" drop and the kit wont make it easier... on a smooth track it might be but not on the streets... i know all the cars in magazines are dropped that low but i doubt anyone would drive like that.

Thanks alot guys. i really appreciate your help. just a couple of things. what are ingalls? whats gutting out the front and rolling the rears? also, would if be more cost effective to buy lets say sleeve coilovers and new shocks or just buying true coilovers???also, what the average price it takes to get them installed?vnlilman, where did you learn all this information on suspension? what book did you read? i want to be educated like you. laters

-ingalls: a company that makes camber kits. SPC and eibach also make them for our cars
-what i mean by gutting/rolling fender well: when you want to drop 3.5" your front tires are going to touch the fender well(the black plastic part right above the tire). since its going to touch, your going to have to remove them, this shouldnt be to hard as its held on my clips/screws. i know 'torreto' has done this but i have doubts as i'm afraid dirt is is going to get into my engine without the fender well. maybe you could put something to prevent this tho. as for rolling the fenders... the rear fender well should be deep enough and you should have no problem with it rubbing but thats only with the negative camber(what you get when you lower your car, thats why you get a camber kit to correct the camber). but as you might know, having a very negative camber is going to wear out your tires real fast, especially with a 3.5" you might have to replace the tires 2 times a year if you drive around like that. when you correct this camber you might have problems with the tire rubbing against the fender trim(the edge of the fender) so what you do is roll it. you make it stick out more so that the tire could tuck in. to do this i heard of people using a bat to roll it(i'll explain it if you really want to know how).
price: sleeved coilover: $300, koni $550-600 is about $800-900 if you DIY
-true coilover: $800-1300 if you DIY. advantage of true coilover vs. sleeved+koni is the true coilover is designed to work together so it will most likely be better then a sleeved coilover+koni setup. also the installation is much easier so you could DIY and save some money. installing konis however is a lil bit more difficult and will require you to cut up your stock struts. so if you ask me i think a true coilover setup would be much better then a sleeved coilover+koni setup.
install price: not sure about konis but springs/coilovers is about $80-120
-where i learned everything.. didn't read books, mainly learned alot from this site and pick up things here and there... also trying to install springs on my car 3 times and wasting about 12 hours(hey i was a newbie trying to follow those stoopid DIYs, thats why i made the 'detailed spring install' so people coule learn from my mistakes. also has alot of info those others DIYs didn't mention) made me learn alot about our suspension.

if you want the octane kit with lets say 205/40/17 tires and a 3.5 inch drop...good luck buddy...you won't be able to drive anywhere...i dropped my car all the way down to the lowest setting on GC coilovers once and i don't have a kit and still can't go up bumps or driveways at all...you can see my front bumper and exhaust pipe all scratched up...

if you want your car slammed to the floor with a body kit i recommend air bags...
