Recharging A/C
I know this is for a 6th gen, but I figured I'd ask since I'm guessing it'll be the same for the newer cars...but how much does it cost to recharge your A/C? I'm running a little hotter when I have it on and was curious about the price...thanks!

R12 will cost u some dough, anywhere between $50-$130 a pound!! It is the old refridgerant that cars used to have to make the AC cold. It is harder to get now because of tough restrictions on its use due to its air/ozone polluting properties. R-134 is what is in all cars now, check your engine bay and find the aluminum tubes that say r-134 on them. Or you can check your manual, it should be in there. R-134 is cheap and you can pick it up at any parts store, screw it on the tubes in your engine bay and refill it. You will need to know how many pounds your AC holds tho (i think between 3-5 pounds). If it is a 6th gen then it will probably be r-134. They sell little metal refill bottles at that store that say r-134 on them. Ask them how much you need at the store, and buy some. Screw it on the tube in the engine bay (which will pop open the bottle) and let it refill. I would ask them advice on how to do it though, just in case. Good luck.

Well i know they sell those meters to find out the temp. My fiance's father uses that thing to test the coldness of the AC. If it is below a certain temp he recharges it. I am not sure if it tops itself off, but i can find out for ya. first you need to find out how many pounds fit in your car, which I think is in the manual. If not ask a guy at a repair shop or parts store or call your local honda dealer. It is really easy to do so don't pay for it to be done!! I am usually on IM all day if you want to talk through that.

You can use a regular meat thermometer you can buy at the supermarket. Just stick it in the a/c vent and it should read between 62-67 degrees farenheight it it's good. Any higher and you should recharge it. You should also take it to a shop where they can drain and recharge.
