KONI - Sportline drop
Finally, 3 hours at Hi Tech and my Koni's are in. I felt like a VIP. At one time there were five guys working on my car, heh heh heh... Slow day for them, I suppose.
Anyway. For one, the rubbing sound's gone. They've basically put a hard rubber tube around the base of my springs, no more cling clang turning out from a parking spot.
Ride. FANTASTIC!!! I'd say it's heaven compared to hell!! With the springs only, it was every bit unsettling. I didn't dare to go fast because of worrying about sudden potholes or bumps, worrying each minute I'd blow my stock shocks. That and my gf and mom both refused to be at the back of the car. The front was bad enough, the rear was gut wrenching. With springs only it was hard on bumps, and even worse going on uneven pavement (not necessarily broken road, but roads with lots of little smooth bumps), the car would bounce up and down several times. The exit to Steeles at 404 was the worst!!
Anyway, back to reality, now that I have the Koni's it's a MUCH different story. Ride was very smooth, noticeable right away. It's now set at middle setting right now, and feels good. I can still feel the road, bumps and potholes can still be felt, though much dampened, and the car still bounces *once* over large bumps, but it's easily 10x better. Nearly no body roll swaying between lanes too. I didn't even feel for the cut front strut after driving for 5 minutes; I doubt I'd ever go back. And the price was right... Basically didn't get charged much labour, $1200 tax in parts and install.
I know a lot of you guys have just springs out there. Advice - DO IT!! I'd say at least do the rear if you're on a budget. The front made much less difference than the rear, though I've yet to play with the stiffness settings. The overall effect though, was when I (purposely, go figure) go over big holes or large bumps, the car would lift and bounce then quickly smooth out.
Now I just need to let the springs to re-settle and the shocks too, then maybe an alignment, but I was suggested that unless the wheel takes I don't need one.
If you guys do it, I'd say don't DIY unless you're very skilled and experience, from what I saw it was a VERY involved process. The front requires major cutting and drilling, etc. As on the Honda Tuning article. Also expect to pay more for labour on the front, as it took the majority of the time.
For those of you who are interested, I've promised someone I'd give him a ride in it when the Koni's are installed, we can maybe do a mini-meet and I can fit three of you in and do a round around the block and highway, so you can feel the difference! Let you know if anything else happens (for better or for worse), but tonight, I'm a VERY VERY happy camper! Next: STRUT bars!!

I think so, 'fraid so. But they did a good job. I monitored the whole thing. They did find cutting the strut housing to be tricky at first, but knew right away what to do.

i would love to go for a ride... I've been thinking of getting the Koni too... My ride feels like ShXX! But i'm not sure whether i should wait for cheaper solutions. (tokico, kyb) Cuz you know, sooner or later, there will be lots of choice. But now, only Konis.

True. We all pay premium for newest stuff. Although I don't see how the others would be very much cheaper. As even latest 9x Civic parts from Koni and/or Tokico aren't too much cheaper. Ride is MUCH better, tho!

Before the Koni's, everytime I accelerate I could feel a seesaw action on the car, and around bumpy corners the bouncing was bad enough to force me to go slow.
I can imagine how much it'll help the SiR with the big engine!
