Parking on a slope facing upwards

My driveway has a slight slope and I park my 2k2 Civic facing upwards each night. I have never engaged the hand brake, just using the 'P' on my auto. Each morning when I drive off and just around the corner, when I hit the brake at the stop sign. I heard a visible "tock" soung from my rear brake (sounds like from the driver's side). Thereafter, for the whole day, it is fine and still have the fully functioning brake. Any comment will be appreciated. Thanks.

well, no matter how steep the hill is or if you have an auto or manual transmission. the handbreak should always be used.
As for that "tock", im not too sure what it is, but i hear the same thing sometimes...its probably nothing though.
