Poll: How many people have blown their factory from lowering their 01-02 Civic?

I see numerous members lowering their Civics with springs and no aftermarket struts. (probably because they are so expensive) Just wondering how many people have blown their factory struts, after lowering without using aftermarket struts? How long did they take to blow? Thanks

I PUT GROUND CONTROL COIL OVERS ON MINE AND MY FACTORY STRUTS BLEW OUT IN A DAY OR SO. THEN I PUT KONI'S IN AND THEY MAY BE EXPENSIVE, BUT THEY RIDE GOOD AND HAVEN'T BLOWN.

I put Ground Control on and they blew out the next day. I now have Konis and the ride is better. I didn't even drop it that low maybe like 1.5 inches is all.

Just curious i am not a suspension expert, ive installed spring and cambers before. My question is when your shocks or struts blow how do you know, does hydraulic fluid leak or what, or is it gas filled, sorry to sound like a n00b, i am just curious because when i put my neuspeeds on my accord i couldnt tell if my struts were blown or if it was just the new ride from the spring, whats a usual hint that their blown. THanks

I had my car dropped 2'' on stock shocks for a year until they gave.....The ride in he back seat was so bad people refused to go with me....Any uneven pavement would send the car's *** in to the air & the rear occupants heads in to the roof of the car......You can push up and down on your bumper,,if it bounces freely, your shocks are worn down or maybe blown.....Since getting my Koni's all of this has been solved......

yeah if you push on the bumper adn step away it should stop bouncing after 1-2 times, if it goes mroe than that your dampers are probably blown, my dampers havent blown and ive had my H&R springs on for about a month, but the ride is terrible, im waiting on the TOKICO Illumina series adjustable dampers to come out, dont want the KONIs. THe guy at my shop said that it will probably be a few mor emonths, so thats cool gives me time to save up, around 700 dollars installed.

I figure I,ll wait a few months as well for the Tokico setup to come out. It will most likely less money.

Add me to the list, blown atleast my back left strut, and because the bumpstops are cut (per the instructions w/ the sportlines), i sincerely doubt the dealer will replace them now.. :/ i've been pondering konis...

I had my car in for service a few days ago and the dealer told me that Honda had a HUGE recall on '01 Civics for bad struts. I had mine replaced under warranty.

My two cents worth!

djmota is just really nicedjmota is just really nicedjmota is just really nicedjmota is just really nice
same story as the above few posts. Ground control kit and blew the rears in 2 weeks I got a little slam happy when I first put those puppies on. The rears would **** a nice little puddle of fluid under each rear strut when i parked after having 3 or more people in my car. I want to wait for tokico's struts but that bouncy a$$ gets on my nerves.

so there is a recall on 01' civics. does this mean i can take my car to a dealership and have them replace my current struts.
