Change spare tire After getting new rims?

This is a dumb question, but if i got 215/45/17 tires with 17 inch rims would it be wise to buy a new spare 215/45/17 tire?

I don't see the point of buying a rim just for a spare but....you can take one of the steelies that you replaced and use it as a full sized spare.

Dude, I tried that with just putting an old steelie in the spare tire well in my car...doesn't fit obviously, but would be a sweet idea...

Yeah the honda dealers I talked to told me that if you put a full size tire in the rear of your car its actually a huge safety issue, because if you get rear ended the tire will fly up. So dunno just my $.02

would it be a safety thing if you relocated it under your car?

It is not a safety issue at all as long as you properly anchor it down. I have 18's and bought a 5th rim & tire to use as a full size spare. My setup is similar to MooCow's where the wheel is actually displayed in the trunk area. There is plenty of room to do this and I think it is a great idea not to mentioned it looks tight.
