Venom 400 for LX

I was looking through earlier threads about the Venom 400 and saw a post that said it wouldn't work on an LX because they don't have v-tec. However, I was talking to a guy at Venom yesterday, and he said that it didn't matter whether the engine was v-tec or not. Does anyone with an LX have the Venom 400 installed, or are there any comments on what I was told?

I work very closely to Python Injection, Inc. (Venom). They are correct, it does not matter whether
you car is Vtec or not. You are changing the fuel maps, not the Vtec engagement points. You would however
probably be better off to go with an Apex'i S-AFC since it allows the user to set their own fuel curve, you can adjust it accordingly to
your own driving conditions. The Venom 400 is an excellent product, it is just that it is pre-programmed and unchangeable.
Also for the money, they are both equivilent in price. It is just that the S-AFC has more features and well worth the money.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I'll look into the S-AFC.

Doesn't the s-afc need a dyno to be tuned properly. That's why I like the venom 400. Maybe it's not quite as good but you certainly don't need a dyno and a trained professional to use it. Please correct me if I am wrong.

So basically its a performance chip? Would it be worth putting on an automatic? If so how much does this thing cost?

I don't know about the automatic, but the cost is around $270-$300, depending on where you get if from. I've heard that it works pretty good, and you should be able to notice a difference. A guy at Venom told me that it really helps in increasing torque, which is important when it comes to performance. I believe there's a link to some dealers in the parts section.

I got mine for 275 shipped from http://www.groupbuycenter.com from a dealer named http://www.madhatterracing.com I am happy with it so far, I have it for a ex mt, the instructions said 1.7 so I don't know if it would work on the lx, but you could try, it only connects to the MAP and TPS, and positive and negative of course.. the instructions even tell you where the wires are, I was impressed!
