EDIT: my bad...... I just went out to check my car, and there is no flap there. So you're ok. I was thinking like you too, that we were supposed to have a flap there. Both my previous cars had that flap.

Mine doesn't have one either. To my knowledge, there isn't supposed to be one. My 00 accord didn't have one either. If you look inside the tube you can see that the diameter is very small and is only large enough for the nozzle on the pump gun to fit down into. It stays that narrow for probably 5-6 inches. I don't think one of those flaps could be there with that design. Anyhow, that is how it is supposed to be. Weird though.

Edit: IF there is supposed to be a flap, I guess I have gotten 2 hondas with broken ones.

Allcustom2k1-I noticed my flap was also missing and got worried becuase I thought that it had broken, however, immediately I took my car to the dealer and they explained to me that the new civics did not carry one. I still wasn't convinced and asked the service rep. if I could look at other 2k1 civics, and sure enough, they too did not have one.

The design of fuel tanks and vapor recovery has come a long way in the last 10 years. The gas cap does all the work now, just make sure you turn it at least "3 clicks" when tightening.
