Help! Civic cranks but won't start

Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help me here. I recently bought a 1995 Civic EJ2 Coupé with the 100hp 1.5 D15B7 engine.

At the time of purchase, the engine had problems starting, which the previous owner said was due to a broken distributor. The distributor was actually corroded and we replaced it with a suitable original Honda distributor, keeping the settings of the old distributor.

Despite our best efforts, the Civic continues to suffer from starting problems. A video of the starting process can be found here if the attached video doesn't work:

Does the sound the engine makes imply anything?

The engine cranks and won't start. We managed to get it running 2-3, the engine ran at 200 rpm before it died again.

I suspect that it is a problem with the ignition timing.
The engine has compression, the fuel pump and injectors work, the ignition coils work and the intake is not clogged.
