2008 EX: how to compress caliper piston?
2008 EX: how to compress caliper piston?
For our 2008 Civic EX
I watched a video (1A Auto video) about installing the rear brakes and the guy shows that the caliper's piston needs to be turned/ twisted in like it's a screw to "compress" it.
So I tried screwing the piston in using but it just spins. Any ideas on what to do to get it to screw in?

Re: 2008 EX: how to compress caliper piston?
Had to deal with this on my friend's 08. Push in with a bit of force and turn like a screw worked for me.
Re: 2008 EX: how to compress caliper piston?
I figured this out after finding the tool I have for screwing in the caliper. It allowed me to use more force.
Initially I used a flat bar which fit in the slot but apparently I wasn't using enough pressure.
The odd thing about the two calipers was one screwed in relatively easy.
The other didn't seem to be screwing in even though it was.
The amount it went in with each turn seemed to be very small which gave me the impression it wasn't screwing in.
Probably because it wasn't going in as easily (thus faster) as the other.
Thanks. I found the tool I use.
It'd been a long while since changing pads on a caliper that needed the piston screwed in.
Forgot I had it until I looked into buying a tool and realized "wait a minute I have one of those" (the square one fits on a 3/8" ratchet).
Thanks again
