wiring neons to window lock switch?

Hey,

I want to install some interior neon accent tubes up under the dash in the front and I was thinking of a location for a switch and then I thought I could just wire them to my existing window lock switch..imo it would look much cleaner and be a little different, plus i hav never used a window lock b4 and prob never will---but neway to get to my question: Would this be possible and how would I go about doing it?

Thanks for your time!!

Luke

good question...
maybe take the panel off and disconnect the wire
and connect the wire to the switch like a normal
toggle switch...

Yea, the window lock is a dpst switch, push it once for an "on" poistion or closed ground and push it again for an "off" or open ground position, works the same way a toggle switch does. just be sure you wire it in the correct loop. (check each wire to be sure which one is the ground) Keep the ground in place and then run the ground from your neon transformer to the other lead on the switch. when you push teh lock button itll close the ground loop turning on the neons, and when you release the lock it cuts the ground turning off the neons. PROPS for the idea. Thought of making that a conversion for button activated Nitrous, but not neons... Keep comin up with the ideas and post 'em!!

Just for anyone who is wondering what DPST is, it means Dual Position Single Throw, this is just switch terminology

Thanks for all the input!

It'll prob take a while to dismantle the door and get to the switch but I think it'll be worth it....Thanks again!
