2012 lx throwing p0128

Hello again,

Last night hubby replaced the thermostat but the CEL didn't turn off. So I hooked up the obdII and cleared the code. I gotta renew the tags tomorrow which means the smog too but I've already read on Google that clearing it ain't gonna matter if the problems still there. What else could it be? Should I replace the temp sensor next or get a software update?

(I kinda wanna say that we had this problem last year too and it passed BUT only at one place the other said something was making it fail. Also over the year or so it would shut off on its own from time to time. It never seemed like anything in particular did it though)

You’d have to reset the code in order for it to go away, or wait several hundred miles for it to clear itself. Has it come back since you’ve cleared it?

Ooh that's good to hear. Well I just cleared it like an hour ago so we'll see. I hooked up the obd again and was able to check the coolant temp. Without the car being on it was saying 160F but after starting it and revving it up a little bit went up to 181F which is barely in the normal range. Hopefully that's just because it's been sitting for an hour and after some driving it'll go up.

Thanks for your reply! It makes me feel better about clearing the code. I figured I just made matters worse lol

It won’t make anything worse.
