Civic 08 starts up and weakly idles and dies or if I give it gas.

Yesterday I drove to the store and it was fine. I got back in the car and the problem started. I realized that I could make it home as long as I gunned it to a higher speed and kept it up. Every red light of course I had to start the engine again but I made it home. Thoughts?
