Fuel leak from ? Fuel pressure regulator 1992 Honda civic sedan
Ist car project. Car has done 167 k
Hi all, my name is Damien
I'm new at this sort of thing. I inherited a 1992 Honda civic sedan 1.5 l automatic from my mother in law.
It had a service 7 months ago, which highlighted a number of maintenance issues, of which I costed out to probably be $2000 Australian dollars if done by a mechanic.
I've hardly stuck my head under the hood of a car before but decided to have a go at sorting so.e things myself and save some money. I want to get it up to specs for my son who is learning to drive.
I have already replaced the gaskets in the rocker valve cover, and spark plugs, changed transmission oil, engine oil and filter, plus coolant flush and change.
There are many other jobs to do, but then a noticed dripping fuel in the engine bay, when running in this part pictured below.
Is this the FPR or some inline filter.
Bear in mind this car is a twin carburettor type.
It looks like it would be easy to change, but I can't find a similar part on line. Any help would be much appreciated.
CHEERS What is this part called? I unbolted the bracket it sits in to get a better look at it.

Re: Fuel leak from ? Fuel pressure regulator 1992 Honda civic sedan
HI Colin
thanks for reply.
On my very limited knowledge, I think it must be the fuel pressure regulator.
The leak seems to be coming from the dome end which has a rubber "hood" covering a seam. Fuel injection models of this car have a fuel rail I believe and the fuel pressure regulator bolts onto the end of that with a o ring connection If I'm not mistaken, and has a vacuum tube. This part seems to be just sitting in the fuel line.
Problem is most of the online parts wholesalers seem to be USA based, and for injection models. Below is picture of engine with air filter manifold at rear of bay.
If anyone else has any ideas, it would be much appreciated. ? Fpr (domed clylindrical object) leaking fuel

Now seeing these new pictures it also looks like a fuel filter, is there a filter on the firewall?
Could try going to the Honda dealership and asking the parts guy if he knows what it is
Re: Fuel leak from ? Fuel pressure regulator 1992 Honda civic sedan
Hi Colin
No there is no filter near the firewall as in the fuel injection models. The cars original manual indicates that in the carburettor models, the fuel filter is located on the left hand side of the fuel tank underneath the car. Which I have found and will change.
However, Haynes Honda Civic service and repair book says that carburettor models has two fuel filters, the above mentioned and one that is located in the engine compartment, but doesn't go into a lot of detail. So this may be it. Probably will have to follow your suggestion.
Cheers Carburettor type fuel filter , left side of fuel tank. (Lives under a cover with 3 clips)
