Front Parking lights / signal not turning on
Front Parking lights / signal not turning on
Hello,
So I have a 2005 Acura EL.. basically a civic. When I turn the switch one position to parking lights, the the front lights do not turn on, rear lights are on and so is dash light. High beam, low beam, and day time running lights work fine. When I turn on the left or right signal lights, only the signal lights next to the fog lights work for the front (rear signal lights work), but the front side signal lights(/parking lights) next to the head lights do not work.
Are front parking lights the same as the turn signal lights?
Car had been in an accident years ago so could be a wiring issue somewhere too but everything was working fine until recently. Any ideas where I should start?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Front Parking lights / signal not turning on
Replace several burned out 12 year old light bulbs? (remove them, take into the store to match them up)
If that doesn't solve it....Remove bulbs and test for power and ground in each socket?
I can't see what's used on EL, but most cars that share park/turn use a single bulb with dual filaments inside (one dim for park, one bright for signal)

Thanks for the help ezone.
So I went to check power and ground first while parking lights are on. Pulled out a 3 pronged socket for drivers side and it showed 0V for all 3 prongs. Plugged it back in, clipped the hood support rod back down and I noticed the passenger side light has come on. I drop the hood and then the drivers side light comes on.... weird.
I'm not sure if this light is shared for parking and signaling although I would assume it should be since its a corner orange light... Anyway, it didn't quite work as a signal indicator.

Could you wiggle the bulbs and get them to work? Meter not connected right? Funny it works now after banging it.
95% of the time when you can smack a light and make it work again, the bulb is bad.
So if you banging around made some of the lights come on, I'd say stuff the full set of new bulbs in it first and see if that works. Bulbs are cheap too.
