92 civic no spark

Hey so i was on the highway then my check engine light came on and 15 mins later my car started sputtering and so i got off the next exit then i drove down a few city streets then it just cutt off all my lights were on and bright still and it just wouldnt crank over so i got it towed home checked the fuel pump it primed up on the on position and i knew that was fine so then i realized i wasnt getting any spark cause i checjed the old school way yes a screw driver into the distributor and touch told my buddy to crank it nothing so then i thought maybe my coil is gone which it was when checked got that outta there put the new one still nothing. Im just upset cause that was already 80 bucks with no results im wondering if the engine is flooded prior to me putting the new coil in so the spark plugs cant spark because of fuel everywhere has anyone else had this problem even when the problem point to the coil? I checked all fuses under dash and hood all good there

Re: 92 civic no spark

Does the new coil produce spark?

If no, I'd try an igniter next.
