Hi Everyone.

I am new to this forum and I am planning to get the 2016 Type R in Vancouver.
Does anyone know if there any North America releasing news.

I am curious with the performance between the STI and the 2016 Type R.

If anyone of you owned a STI or a 2016 Type R, can you guys share with me the opinions you have.

Whereas the Type R appears to be too little too late. If it came to North America 12 years ago, it would've been awesome. Now, from what I've seen, it's going to be STI money, but with performance of a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE.

I'm betting the STI will have the clear performance advantage, and net you awd bro!

Plus a long shot, but still, you don't know what first year quirks the Type R might have.

Unless the Type R comes out for WRX money and a sub 5.4 0-60...

What I have heard through my Honda dealer here in Chicago is that North America will not see the type R towards either the end of 2016 or beginning of 2017 the price range is roughly about $40K so that being said it seems to me that STI is a better choice due to 4WD option which is not available on Honda. Honda new 2016 civic with EX-T which is turbo 1.5 litre price is approx. $28K which I believe is pretty high in order to buy a civic. I also found that every dealer in north America will receive only one type R. So that being said no body knows what kind of manufacture defects would be there if any and how long will Honda take to correct those. Hope this helps.

Ultimately Mac is right, whatever gets you excited the most is what you should buy.

It seems like the STI has more advantages and might start about 5k less.

And Pier is probably right about the prices...

BUT, what is the justification for a $40,000 Civic? This whole time with the SRT-4, Mazdaspeed3, WRX, Cobalt.. all having turbos or s'chargers, all in the 20s, Honda finally brings one to the game and it's 40 grand!??!

Spending 40k on a Subaru is the same as spending 40k on a civic. It sounds better but it's really not any different (it's a lot of money for a car). That's how much it cost to play.

Drive them and see for yourself. You may be waiting a while for the Civic though.

US WRX $27,390 or less out the door.

Forget the STI, the wrx is still better than the "Type R".
(STI is still more than 5k cheaper than the Honda, but if you want to quote the top of the line trim to make a better case for the Honda.....)

I live in New England, so awd is a substantial advantage over the Civic.

My opinion though. If it's going to primarily be a city commuter car then Civic. If you're travelling to say Whistler or the interior lots then Subaru.
