Hello,

So recently I bought a manual 1995 Honda LX, it had a bad engine so I swapped one of those d15b engines that come straight from Japan, they usually have around 50,000 miles.
The car runs fantastic, fuel consumption is good, etc.
Sometimes when I stop at a red light the idle keeps reving a little bit, usually from 500-1000rpms, it's pretty annoying and it doesn't happen all the time.
I have a very limited amount of tools and I kinda don't want to take it to a shop, any ideas on what it could be?

It could be a lot of things, but I'll put in order what I would check.


1) Spark Plugs - Just because they are so easy to check


2) FITV - This is a pretty common issue and even with limited tools you should be able to pull this out. Clean it, put it back together and see if it does the trick. The following site might help:

Don't forget to bleed your coolant afterwards, or else you might get a bubble in the line:


3) IACV - This can also cause Idle problems and many times get clogged. A good cleaning might fix your problem. It is a little harder to get to with limited tools though. If you google, clean IACV you will probably find a lot of info


4) Check hoses for vacuum leaks.


There is a lot more you can check, but I would start in this order.
