Help with Wire tucking and Painting Engine Bay
Help with Wire tucking and Painting Engine Bay
Alright guys, I need the almighty powers of the forum on this. I've never wire tucked a car nor do I know where to find out how to. I also need to know what type of paint to use on the Engine bay on a 1993 honda civic Hatch. I dont plan on using spray paint so I've got that going for me Lol. The reason I want to tuck wires and paint the bay is because we're in the process of removing my engine and rebuilding while I save my money for a b20c1. Thank you whoever helps out

My understanding of wire tucking.. Extend wires as needed so you can route everything to be hidden. Same goes for any lines you want to clean up. Brush up on your soldering skills and buy a good amount of shrink wrap.
As for paint.. I've heard people just use regular paint and clear coat as if you're paint the exterior of the car. Color's up to you; either paint match, good, clean contrast, or black it out to hide dirt easier.

Re: Help with Wire tucking and Painting Engine Bay
Solder to extend the wires. Basically you cut the wire you need to extend, cut a piece of wire from a spool and strip those ends, and you use the soldering iron/solder to fuse the stripped ends together. Shrink wrap protects the newly soldered ends from the elements/contact with other wires to prevent signal crosstalk/shorting.
Looks like you have a good amount of research to do. Either that or pay a shop copious amounts of money to do it properly. If you opt for that route, I'd suggest making sure they do it properly and solder everything instead of using crimp/twist connectors
