1995 civic dx has a rough idle, poor acceleration when hot
Hey, I am totally stumped. My 1995 dx runs fine on a cold start but as soon as the engine thermometer reaches the usual running temperature the idle surges and any attempt to accelerate putters and gives no power. If I tap the gas petal and accelerate slowly the car works. When I reach high RPM the acceleration is smooth.
When the idle is rough the car seems like it is going to die but then the engine fan turns on for about 10 seconds and the engine is smooth for a bit. then the fan turns off and the idle is rough again.
Over the summer I had a new timing belt put in, Valve adjustments and I installed new spark plugs. The dealer talked me into a new cap and rotor...
Yesterday I replaced the O2 sensor, no luck. If I get the car hot at night my CAT does not glow red or smell funny.
Please give me some new ideas if you have any. Could it be a different sensor? The weirdest part is the car has full power until I get up to temp.
