Civic, why you no fuel?
Civic, why you no fuel?
Okay, so I have an EF that just got a motor and a turbo. Problem is, shortly thereafter, it stopped working. Specifically it died, then refused to start. We've narrowed it down to a fueling problem as it starts if you spray ether into the intake while it's cranking.
Another thing we tried in order to test it was to disconnect a fuel line from the filter, put it in a gas can, and cycle the ignition. You can hear the pump come on (a brand new walbro 255, we even tried a different one, in case that was the problem) but only a few drips of fuel came out.
The car was sitting for a few years prior to getting the motor, so I'm thinking this means the fuel lines must need replacing? Could there be something else?

Instead of replacing random parts, why not figure out where the thing is losing fuel?
If no pressure at the engine compartment, go to the line at the tank and check there.
How about right out of the pump? If you have the pump wired backwards, it would run but do you really think it would pump fuel that way?

How about the fuel line that connects on top of the pump/tank unit?
Maybe it popped off a hose or something inside the tank?
Which line did you disconnect from the filter? Could the filter just be clogged?
Inlet screen on the pump clogged? Garbage and goo in the tank from sitting?

Replacing the filter was the first thing we tried. The tank was clean when we dropped it, and we put fresh gas in just in case. The pump was brand new, as was the intake screen. The pump had actually been installed by a shop along with the motor; my buddy figured it must just be faulty out of the box, so I ordered a new one and we tried that with similar results.

Re: Civic, why you no fuel?
So disconnect the line at the tank unit and see if it pumps gas out there.
Blow thru the fuel line with air, see if it is clear all the way to the front.
Gotta be something simple here.
