97 Honda Civic won't start!

First things first I have spark (Can't remember the color) and my fuel pump is definitely pumping. (Hear humming and fuel rail puts out some strong spray. I've checked my compression and each cylinder have about 80 pressure in each one. Could this be because of a head gasket? My car just cranks for days and won't fire up. I'm leaning towards head gasket or timing belt slip! Any suggestions?

Re: 97 Honda Civic won't start!

It could be because of a timing belt slip or possibly a bad crankshaft sensor.

Color of a spark is not relevant.

What's important is "How wide of an air gap can the spark jump?" If measuring at the plug wire ends, you need to have spark strong enough to jump at least 1/2 inch gap.

each cylinder have about 80 pressure in each one.
If I was the one that did the test, that would be absolutely lousy. I expect to see 180+ PSI on my gauge when all is well.

I can't vouch for your methods or equipment, so I can only assume the results are correct....... My guess: Jumped time, inspect the timing belt..

Could this be because of a head gasket?
No IMO.

Thanks for all the input. I'm glad to hear that a timing slip may have been the issue because of everyone I talked to said the same thing. Very knowledgable information.
