New Exhaust Manifold Nuts Again?

A few weeks ago I replaced the exhaust manifold and nuts. The integrated manifold / catalytic converter is defective and needs to be replaced.

Do I need to use new nuts again or can they be reused since they have only been installed for a few weeks?

Same question regarding the gasket between the cat outlet and exhaust pipe.

Thanks

I reuse hardware all the time, only replace if they really need replaced (damaged, rusted)....... or if they are locking fasteners and the manual says to replace.

Donut gasket, probably reuse for now. If it is loud or leaks, you can replace it later if you have to.

The manual says to replace the nuts and gasket, but I am asking because I have just installed new ones a few weeks ago.

The question is whether they need to be replaced every time that they are removed.

Manual? We don't need no steeenkin' manual!

The manual covers the manufacturers ***......but there's an awful lot one can get away with ------ the manual won't cover a gray area like that.

--------------------------------------------------

I'd reuse hardware unless there is a dang good reason not to....and I can't think of any (NOT looking at the book!). Nothing stripped or broken.... Those aren't locking fasteners AFAIK.

Donut gasket, I'd reuse like I already said unless it shows a problem or is damaged.

The steel gasket between head and manifold, I'd say to use a new one since it crushes to seal when the bolts are tightened the very first time.

You mentioned the manual, so I just wanted to clarify.

Kudos for using one!
Seems like a lot of people try to tackle stuff without, and it sure seems like they are the ones that need it the most.

Look at the manual for guidance, but look at the situation and see if that guidance is appropriate for the given situation.

Sometimes there are risks involved with doing a particular job, and you need to know what you are doing well enough to assess those risks.

And, you are doing this work for yourself....You aren't in a shop having to back up your work with a guarantee. Right?
