EM1 - Should I buy it

Morning all,

I have beentrolling this site for information over the last month. I finally decided tomake a profile and become a member since I may soon be joining the family.

I hate to be a noob and on my first post ask what would youpay for this, but I would like feedback before I pull the trigger. I have achance to buy an almost 100% stock 2000 EM1 Civic with less than 100k for 5300.It is electron blue, MINT condition and has all original paperwork. It is a 2owner car and the second owner is an older man who used it as a commuter car towork. Recently had timing belt and water pump, even comes with original windowsticker.

So, is it worth 5300?

And what’s so great about the EM1 civic?

Once again, I am new to the import scene, I originally startedlooking for a prelude and came across this. My goal is just to have a car goodon gas but still fun to drive. I am not looking to race anyone.

Re: EM1 - Should I buy it

no one can tell you really what is good about it, its a Honda, something you have to appreciate, no one can tell you if its a good deal, you have to appreciate the car, many people will say 5300 for a 13 year old car is stupid, but if you appreciate the car it is a steal of a deal, I would buy that car is a heart beat. Enjoy the civic because you YOU like the reliability, the customization, the fuel economy, the styling, not because every other 16 year old in the world has one and says its cool and fast.

Post pics of it, and maybe a location or Ad as if you dont buy maybe I will, or another Civic enthusiast.

Re: EM1 - Should I buy it

The EM1 civic was the last civic to have double wishbone suspension. It is also one of the most popular civics to mod so there are parts everywhere for them. That's why they are so special. Civics are not fast, but Honda's posses a certain feel when they are driven and not all cars have that.

That sounds like a great deal. It's not a Prelude as far as power but it is fun to drive and economical. I tried looking for a prelude but could not find a manual and I needed a car. I'm glad I didn't because I need fuel economy more now.

if it's at least 90% original and in Mint condition. $5300 is a great price. It's getting harder and harder to fine a stock EM1 anymore. All the kids out there mod them and f* them up.

Buy it and keep it clean and stock!!!!

Re: EM1 - Should I buy it

Thanks for the feedback.

I have been searching for about almost 2 months now. Ioriginally wanted an inexpensive, dependable, fun to drive car with good mpg. It eventually narrowed my search to Integra, prelude and RSX. I swear I have looked at almost 10 cars. Everyone had been moddedand were pretty beat up on.

The fact that this car has been adult owned and is almoststock pretty much had me sold, I just wanted to know if it was really worth theKBB value. And also if there was something special about it, since they seem tobe highly sought after.

I will post pics later.

EM1 is hands down my favorite civic of all time. If you can talk him down to 4000-4500 that's a steal. Check the pricing on those cars they tend to sell for a lot because they are rare.

Re: EM1 -

I already talked him down to 5300, he’s not coming downanymore, he knows what he has. This guy has a file with maintenance records andoriginal bill of sale from the original owner. It also comes with all maintenancerecords and bill of sale from the second owner (guy im buying from). I feelpretty good about it, really just wanted confirmation from you guys (who knowthese cars inside and out) if it was really worth it and if you would buy.

My plan for the car is to keep it as stock as possible…I mayput some tasteful rims on it when it needs tires.

Honestly, it's not worth that price. I wouldn't pay that much. Would be nice to see some pics
