rattle noise at idle with ac on

Please help, I am trying to figure out what might be the cause of a rattle noise, that I only hear when at idle. It only makes the noise with ac or the defrost on. If I turn either one off the noise goes away. I have notice for a month or more and it's getting louder. Please help. I don't a lot of money to spend a garage for them to charge me a arm and a leg to "try" figure the noise out but not really fix it. If I can fix it myself great! But if not I want to take it somewhere and tell them to check/replace ______ and skip the nonsense at least. Oh and I have a 2007 Honda Civic SI with about 75k. Thanks 0

Sounds like maybe the compressor belt is loose.

Where does the noise come from?

How would a blind person narrow down the location of the noise?

It sounds as if the sound is coming from back of hood area. Not the front. Close to where window and hood meet.
Thanks

Ok, now stick something in your ear to use as a listening device, a hearing aid.
A stethoscope.

A long screwdriver I sometimes use....or a length of tubing. Depends on the situation.

Stick one end to your ear, move the other end around to locate where the noise sounds the loudest.

Are you in the rust belt? Heat shield for the exhaust may have rusted loose?

I can only guess from my recliner here.
