Cool Need new Struts, Civic 2003 LX

I am looking for entry level struts, nothing sporty or lowering, just something to replace my worn out struts. What companies are good? I am looking for front and rear shocks.

Car: Honda Civic LX 2003 Coupe

Any help is appreciated!

Re: Need new Struts, Civic 2003 LX

I am thinking of the Tokico HP's, I heard a lot of good things about it. What else should I consider replacing if I did get them?

Tokico's would be your best option in my opinion if you just want a sportier strut. They could handle a drop also if you decide later you want lowering springs.

Just replacing stock--KYB. Tokicos are a tad more expensive and you'll have trouble finding them.

KYB-GR2 (Excel G) are good OE replacement struts.

Here's a great spot to get them.

http://www.tunersports.com/kyb-gr-2-...362_p2177.html

use coupon code "SummerSavings" and you can get them for pretty much $400 out the door with free shipping.

Re: Need new Struts, Civic 2003 LX

If you are looking for entry level struts as stated in the first post, I just replaced all four of mine (94 Civic) with the Unity Strut assemblies. Included new coils. Very pleased with them and super easy to install. No spring compressors. Just unbolt old assembly, install new assembly. I no longer bottom out going over speed bumps. Corner handling was greatly improved. Have been on the car for several months and very pleased so far. Girlfriend just drove from East Idaho to Portland and back and was very happy with the ride.
Best part was under $200 for all 4 on Amazon with lifetime warranty (for the 94 Civic).
Probably not as good and KYB or Tokico but with the new coils and ease of installation, you can't beat the deal for stock level shocks.

Re: Need new Struts, Civic 2003 LX

Tokico HP blues are getting a bit harder to find. I've got a '05 LX (same price range as yours for parts) and I lucked out with a full set for $503 last week. The next cheapest set I could find scouring the net was about $540ish. After that, I only found some at Dezod and Andy's Motorsport, and those ran towards the $600. I'll vouch for the performance though. My Civic does about 400 miles a week going all around town, delivery routes, and Autocross. On top of that, I'm able to go a lot longer than the 50,000 mi. change interval. If you can find a set for a lot less than $540 though, and you're not looking into much more than a replacement for your stock equipment, might wanna go with the other options the others mentioned.

Re: Need new Struts, Civic 2003 LX

Vendors list them but that doesn't mean they're in stock. Tokico isn't shipping any new product to distributors because they're restructuring north america or something. I know for a fact Dezod does not have a complete set because I checked with them.

Yeah the Tokicos are hard to find. I actually just bought the blues from ebay, the whole set. I paid $540, I hope they will be as good as people praise them for.

Now if you install those tokico's with stock springs you will be driving a Harsh/Stiff 4x4 lol
You will need to get some soft springs like tein h techs.

Right now my car bounces like it's a toy car, stiffening it up will make it sportier, which contradicts my initial statement but I think it will be better in the longer run. I will probably install the struts this weekend.

He will be just fine with the blues and stock springs. They're a little stiffer than stock but lowering springs make the ride stiffer yet.

Re: Need new Struts, Civic 2003 LX

Hmm.. If your going to spend like 600 or so just get a set of Tein Basis with new top hats. It will run you around 900 dollars but you will be able to adjust your ride height and Tein makes good quality stuff.

I replaced mine with a set of monroe quick struts and they don't seem to be that bad.. Took the car off the road shortly after though lol

Kindly share the Amazon link...also looking for a complete set myself and on a slim budget.
