How do you ground the trunk light of a '98 honda civic coupe?
There is current running through the wires and everything but the light wont turn on unless i ground it (i ground it with a tester). From what i've read online, which should be happening but isn't, once the trunk is open the circuit should be complete. Meaning when you open the trunk some how the light gets grounded and comes on. And that's what i want to know how to do. Thank you for your help.

Ground is switched, so find the trunk light switch. It's in the latch.

The wires running to the latch might be one of the ones you need. See if one goes to ground when the truck is opened. There is probably a wire for the light and one for the the on dash display to tell you the trunk is open.

The 2 wires attached to the latch shown in the pics. The switch is built into the latch.
One wire is grounded, the other wire leads to the light (and the dash display if equipped).
if you can jumper the 2 wire connector at the latch and the light comes on, you have a switch problem.

i was looking for a switch like a button or something but i was wrong.. i saw like a flat piece of metal or whatever and i pulled it over the ground bolt and the light turned one
.. but i closed the trunk and it wouldn't close haha so i unpulled it back to the other side of the ground bolt and now it works fine
..dash light even comes on too...thank you guys for your help
