Airbag light 2004 Civic SIR EP3 HAtchback
Airbag light 2004 Civic SIR EP3 HAtchback
Was wondering if somebody could help
I have a 2004 civic sir and the airbag light is on - Its reading left impact sensor as the issue. I previously replaced the sensor, which turned off the light for 4 months and then the light came back on? I tested again and it still reads left impact sensor. Disconnected the srs module and re-connected it but the light is still on?
Would anybody know of a solution? do I need to replace the srs module? the car was in an accident long ago.
Thanks

I assume the car is not a US market car. We don't have that version of the car here. Codes may not be the same, so get proper service information for your car.
First off, make absolutely certain you have the correct code number and the correct definition of that code number.
(Over here, many of the cars could have had different SRS part suppliers, so we have to determine what manufacturer made the control unit before we can be sure of the code definition.)
There is a huge difference between "left side impact sensor" and "left front impact sensor".
If you weren't aware there can be multiple sensors, you may have replaced the wrong one.
Measure all of the crash sensor wiring for continuity between the sensor and the control unit if you did in fact replace the correct sensor.
Another trick is to swap 2 sensors (ONLY if they are identical) and see if the trouble code moves with the sensor.
Observe all published safety precautions.
Airbags can be very expensive and a HUGE liability if you do something wrong.
