Unhappy Transmission won't stay in gear. Solenoid maybe?

Hi, I have a 2004 Civic EX Coupe AT. I'm college and my parents put a restriction on how many miles I can drive my car a week. So I figured out how to disable the miles on my car by disconnecting the console/speedometer harness from the unit. Of course I couldn't figure how fast I was going so I tried to figure which wire was it that counted the miles. I then connected the black wire to the harness and then touch each individual wire to the harness via a wire and see which wire slot would activate the mileage display. In the process I might've touched to wires and might've caused a short. As soon as I figured I might have messed up, I connected everything back up because I didn't want to screw anything up.

As I feared, my worries were true. I then left to the store and realized my transmission would not "kick" into 1st gear immediately, and then it "slipped" out of 1st gear and would not move while the shifter was in "D". I turned the car off and tried again and it went into gear, but it would "slip" into neutral again. I had to repeat turning off the car and turning it back on and put it into gear just to get back home. If I let the car sit and cool down completely, it will shift into gear and stay into gear for approx 1-2 minutes. If I get into final gear, it will stay in that gear for a longer time. There is no check engine light and the transmission was rebuilt 2 years ago.

I would appreciate any advice on how maybe what the problem could be. I'm sure I caused the problem.

Also, when I start the car from cold, the transmission makes sort of a whinning/smooth grinding sound and then immediately quits when I put the car into gear.

What you did is not the smartest thing to do.
You could have damaged just about anything in that harness..

Dont drive the car like that or you will most likely destroy the transmission.

-Re-splice and solder and heat shrink the wires you cut back together again.
-Plug the harness back in where its supposed to go into.
-Check ALL the fuses under the hood and under the dash.
-I would then pull the battery and let it sit 10 minutes then connect it again. (Make sure you have your radio code if you have a stock radio)

Try it see what happens.
If its still acting up you need to see if your "D" light on your dash is blinking and pull the code.
