Converting speedo from KP/H to MP/H

Hello, I'm living in the states and was looking to buy a Canadian civic. The cluster has KP/H as the main speed reading with MP/H as the smaller text. I was curious how to swap the Canadian Speedo to a US Speedo and what is required. Any help would be great. Thank you

Honda doesn't support cars imported across the borders by their owners, or only minimal support if any at all.
Tough as he!! at the dealers because the VIN is not recognized in the computer system, you can barely get them to honor recalls, warranty is nil if it is new enough to have any.

Example: We cannot purchase a genuine reman transmission for a certain Odyssey here that needed one badly, because it was originally sold as a Canadian market vehicle. It does not exist in the USA VIN database.
Not even with money, they will not sell it to us.

Would be less of a headache to leave the Canadian car in Canada, and buy a US spec car in the US.

To entertain you:

What year is the car?

Analog speedo: Buy a US (MPH) speedometer for it from a US junkyard or dealer.

OR

You can buy gauge overlays all over the web, like these

I Googled "change gauge face civic" and got like a zillion hits in 0.14 seconds.

The overlays are the cheapest option I'd say. That's what I did at least.

The Car is a 2003 Civic LX Sport assembled in Canada. My only concern is that should I unplug the gauge cluster would the US model have the same plug/harness?

assembled in Canada
Assembled, or sold in Canada?
Plenty of Canada built cars were built for and sold in the US market.

Canadian market and US markets have plenty of differences though. The cars are built to different specs/standards to comply with the local regulations.

Can't tell you that from here. Would need to compare wiring diagrams, and connector and wire position diagrams for specific each car in question.

If the cars are truly identical they should swap though, but "identical" would have to entail a bit more research than just the Civic name and the letter designations.

Example:
Si in Canada may have been the equal of an EX in the USA (1.7L).
Si in the USA got a 2.0 K series engine, no idea if Canada got that.

I don't recall ever seeing a "sport" version here.

HX, GX, LX, EX, DX, Si, 2-3-4 door, Airbag configurations, country it was built in, manual/automatic/CVT, etc., all make a difference. I see 14 choices for a 4 door car right off the bat. This site HAS had someone post a thread dealing with cluster swapping but I don't recall what the swap was. Try some searching.

THEN you have mileage to consider. Sending a cluster out to a speedo shop to have mileage altrered will take a couple weeks and some cash.

Seems like a gauge overlay kit would be the simplest way to go, for sure. Ignore the numbers on the odometer, convert the KM to miles when you need to.

I've actually seen 3 "Honda Civic Sport" on the road where I live(Minnesota). I suppose I have more chances of seeing it since MN is attached to Canada? But this thread doesn't mater anymore since I found a better Civic for cheaper ^_^ Got a coupe EX 02. Downfall = I tried installing aftermarket Rear Speakers to my 02 civic, apparently RnD decided to place the Trunk Springs/Torsion Bars right below the speakers , making it impossible to install a lot of after market speakers. Great Job Honda... Great Job.... bishes....
