rebuilt d17a2 swap bucking/backfiring no codes

Ok I have let my car sit for a while, and it wasnt running the smoothest before n it gets worse the more miles I put on it. I decided to keep the car now that my job requires alot of miles to work.

Soo heres the deal.... This cars been through the ringer, its an 05 civic VP coupe, has a bottom end from an 01 civic ex and rebuilt top end from a 05 ex.
The problem i'm having is it is running very rough, searching idle, backfiring, and bucking from ~1500-4000 rpm. It is a d17a2 swap with a2 ecu and crower stg1 cam. Also ex style exhaust manifold to 2.25" custom exhaust setup w//cat and o2 functional.Ebay Sri with relocated intake temp

It hasnt thrown any codes yet and the compression is 120 equally per cylinder.

It has new:
ngk plugs
Water pump
Timing belt
Air filter aem

So my question is how can it run so poorly with no codes? It is lacking power and harsh to drive. Especially when cold. I cant even sell the car this way. If I could fix this problem I'd definately keep it at this point, but im frustrated. Help!

Did you do an idle relearn procedure? I believe with a new cam you are suppose to do a procedure to teach the ECU the new cam profiles. I don't know if it is still needed since you have a new ECU. Just a thought!

replaced the pcv and did an idle relearn today. Ran a little smoother, but still is lacking power and running rough. Drops speed up hills with my foot to the floor. I gotta drop gears more than usual.

Re: rebuilt d17a2 swap bucking/backfiring no codes

Ive been checking for the possibility of an electrical problem. I found something strange....

Apparently im getting 12.7 volts across the battery and 14.5v running. The strange part is when I disconnect the negative and test for a draw I get between 11.9v and 12.5v draw.

I figured if I find the source of power to the ground/body and remove the source it will drop to zero. So my process has been to try disconnecting everything to see what affects the power draw. Still not sure how it has that high of a draw and still starts and battery not draining.

So far ive checked:
-moved around all major power wires/ visual check
-resistance from batt+ to alternator
-unplugged all engine sensor, coil packs, injectors
-unplugged amp, amp wire, radio, and all aftermarket accessories
-unplugged all fuses and relays under hood
-unplugged most fuses under dash
......and a few other things im sure

So what else could it be? Im lost...anyone? Is there still anyone on here who can help?

What year is the ecu from. 04-05 use wide band sensor sand a different ecu then 01-03. Not sure if it would make a difference. Did you check your valve clearance?

All the voltages are checking out fine. still doesnt explain the bucking, or the battery light flickering randomely. I have checked valve clearance. And timing, and everything I can think of. The ecu is from an 05 ex, and the block from an 01. The head,.from an 05 ex and the exhaust is custom but Honda civic ex (05) 02 sensors
