Hey guy`s last summer i installed a soundsystem in my car.
there is a 800watt rockfordfosgate amp,2 12" infinity sub`s
1 capacitor rated for the system and 2 6x9`s alpine type r

this system worked amazing for a month but then my buddy
turned up some stuff on my amp and on a long drive home the car shut off.
dead battery and ****ed alternator.

when i boosted the car later at home to find the problem my alternator
was reading 6volt`s and shooting spark`s out and had killed the battery beyond charging.

the battery was about 4 month`s old and the alternator was reading 14.5volt`s before the break down.


My question now is this i have the alternator out and am going to have it rebuilt. but should i upgrade the amprerage for the soundsystem so it doesn`t blow again? all in all im confused so anything will help

I ran some stuff a lot higher in wattage than that on a stock alternator and no capacitor. Seems odd that it would of done something like that. But yeah it wouldn't hurt to upgrade the amperage since you rebuilding it anyways..
