Re: cruise control
Just a few thoughts:
Got LED tail/brake lights? Put the original bulbs back in and try it.
The brake light switch needs to be checked. Not only for the lights, but for the contacts that the cruise uses too. Try lifting up on the brake pedal with your foot while working the cruise buttons, see if that gets it working.
The clockspring could also have intermittent continuity issues too.
Some people hit the main switch with their knee (depends on where it is) when they get in and out of the car and have no idea what it does. One lady got mad as hell when I told her that's all it was.

Re: cruise control
Boy, there are a whole lot of possibilities there. And your "hesitstes" description is way too vague. Need a ton more info about it.
Tough to even guess without seeing the issue (or driving the car) first hand.
Got a check engine light on? Diagnose that first. Get freeze frame data too.

Re: cruise control
Does it feel smooth but lack some power momentarily? Or is it not smooth?
NGK plugs? Proper gap?
30kV available from each coil?
Would you know what a single cylinder misfire feels like? (It is not a smooth feeling)
Did any of the plugs look like this when you pulled them out?
Re: cruise control
Like I said, this is tough to guess at without seeing what it does myself......

Re: cruise control
You aren't making this easy at all. Not sure I can help at this point. Ok, so....WHILE it is hesitating, is the engine running smooth or rough?
Would you know what a single cylinder misfire feels like?
How hard are you trying to accelerate when this happens? (Full throttle, half throttle, average mom, or grandma in the parking lot on bingo night?)
