Changing System Pressure in an 04 Civic Autobox?
Changing System Pressure in an 04 Civic Autobox?
Asked before But Topic is lost? Brother had his 02 Acura TL trans rebuilt and just went in for a service checkup at the trans shop. Where they adjusted system pressure a wee bit, easily apparently as it only took approx 3 mins.
I know older gen Hondas controlled sys pressure via the setup of the Kickdown cable.
IS there one on this Gen Civic OR is there a way to exrternally adjust up the pressure to delete that goofy sloooow shifting (and save on useless clutch pack wear) that Honda decided Geriatric Buyers wanted?

Re: Changing System Pressure in an 04 Civic Autobox?
I should have asked myself this question when I built mine. The pressure regulating valve is in the transmission, right where the TC comes in. The regulator springs are inside, had I thought of this I would have shimmed it a bit. There is a PR screw adjustment bolt too, but again, it is inside too. Hate to spin bolts and play with shims when you have to pull the transmission to change it if you're wrong... You are right to an extent though. Theoretically a line pressure increase would do this transmission good, I'm just not aware of any way to do it easily
Re: Changing System Pressure in an 04 Civic Autobox?
thanx for the reply. Adjusting Kickdown cable was the accepted and even 'official' method to increase system pressure and subsequent shift speed/control. Right in my Acura Integra OEM manual
Dunno How to do this on this current Goofy trans.
I will take it to the Trans shop..
Maybe they can do this .. maybe not :-)
