hey everyone,

i have a manual 98 Honda Civic EX. recently it has started to make a vibrating noise whenever it is moving. The frequency is proportional to the speed of the car. when i turn the noise becomes louder. At first i thought i thought it might be a wheel bearing issue, but i have read that the noise is described more as a humming sound rather than the pronounced thumbs that are occurring. The noise is not affected by braking and continues when the car is put into neutral. I cant afford a mechanic so any help would be greatly appreciated.

does it happen when its raining? like i have an 02 civic and it happens to me but its only when its raining because there is a flap under the car that is loose. mine has the vibrating noise in the passenger seat

Did you change the rims recently? Or hit anything? I got a vibrating sound from a bent rim after i hit a curb with it.

check the motor mounts. also check your exhaust hangers under the car.

Rahway09 it happens regardless of the weather. and yeah, the problem started after i hit a curb in the rain, im pretty sure thats what did the damage. i took the wheel off today and even spinning it by hand i could hear a thumbing noise. im having trouble telling if its coming from the hub or further up the axle.
