Car die when getting off freeway.
Ok ive searched and searched and cant find anything just like what my car is doin.
I have a 01 civic ex manual tranny 150000 miles. I recently have done an idle relearn (last week) and have no engine mods beside cai. This only seems to happen when i get off the freeway or am going over 50 and when I shift into neutral out of high rpms like 5000 or soo. Anyway ill take the car out of gear and be coasting along and ill look down to see my rpms are at zero so it all just depends if im moving ill just put it in gear and release the clutch and it will fire right up or if im stopped ill just turn the key and start her up real quick. NOTHING else is wrong there is no funny idleing no sputtering the car is running strong and no cels or any lights except for when they're supposed on startup. This has happend only 3 times since last weekend. Im wondering if i should go through the hassle of changing the fuel filter maybe? Anyway its never been changed and i dont see how any fuel filter can be lifetime. Also i did read something about a switch may be loose or something where the key is causing the car to shut off? When the car dies everything stays on though... radio, a/c, headlights just the engine shuts down. I changed the oil and filter within 2000 miles and the level is good. all fluid levels are at max anyway thats all the info i can think of right now and i can't think of anything else that ive changed in the past couple months beside real recently adding a injen cai. (previous owner had a cheap spectre i tried to take it out to clean it and the whole thing cracked and fell apart lol so i decide to get a higher quality one that looked good). Anyway guys any help or info you have is greatly apreciated.

Are you sure the engine is off when the tach says zero? Could be the tach is bad and you need a new gauge assembly. Do the gauge self diagnostic and see what the tach does.
Might be it's struggling and not actually off. Check for a bad headgasket and if that isn't it start cleaning stuff- throttlebody, intake manifold, VTEC, PCV, EGR, etc. Also, try a top end cleaner for the valves.

Yea that's a 100% positive on the engine shutting off
Cuz I have to restart the car when it happens engine turns over and fires ect... Weird thing is that it hasn't done it since I made this post ?? Maybe since I did the idle relearn it had a couple glitches and worked itself out? I'm keeping and eye out for it though. This was just the first problem I've ever had with the engine so it just kinda spooked me I guess
