P0730 2004 Honda Civic EX
Hi,
A few days ago I was driving and could not over 30mph as my car would over rev and go up to 5-6 rpms. I got a diagnostic at auto zone, resulting in code P0730 Incorrect gear ratio, and possibly failure of transmission system shift control. A mechanic friend drove the car at 90 mph with no problems. The engine, not check engine light, is on. I am not sure if I need a new transmission, or if the fluid needs to be flushed or what not. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, thank you

Re: P0730 2004 Honda Civic EX
First, check for loose wires/connectors at the transmission then drain the ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) through a strainer (coffee filters work great). If you see metal in the strainer replace the transmission. If no metal you need to have the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th clutch pressures checked. If they're not in spec replace the transmission. If they're in spec replace shift solenoid valve A and B AND replace the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and B.
The solenoids are number 7: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...NSMISSION+CASE
