Girl knows nothing about cars, needs advice

I have a 2003 Honda Civic almost at the 100,000 mile mark. What should I be having maintenanced on it? I'm getting the timing belt replaced as well as the water pump...the Honda dealer package quoted at around $539. An alignment is needed. How much does that run? Should I have the shocks and wheel bearings checked? I haven't had to buy a new battery since I got it. Sears tested it a few months ago and said it was fine for now. I plan to keep it for another 100,000 miles and do not want any problems unexpectedly. Knowing absolutely NOTHING about cars, I cannot afford to put $1,000's into it if i don't need it.

see gases test in here. Better do it at once if gas test comes positive.

shocks are easy later on, but if need do bearings better do at once too.

Bring it to me... I only charge $50 per hour, not $100. That's why they call it the Stealership...

Re: Girl knows nothing about cars, needs advice

Download the Service Manual for your vehicle from:

http://hondatech.info/search/civic/

There will be a section that will tell you what needs to be serviced at different mileage intervals. Look for the service recommendations at 100K and have your mechanic take care of them for you.

Also, the dealership is about 40% more expensive that most private automotive repair business'. You may wish to look around for a reputable mechanic and have him give you a quote.

Best of luck and if you have any questions just hit us up. Most of the guys around here will be more than happy to help out!

Look at the dealer website like Bloomfield Honda if this dealer is closer to you. They do have coupon $100 off for timing belt job too. I got it done at Bloomfield since it's the cheapest at that time.
