Cool EGR Port Cleaning for newbie

Hey guys, sorry if this is answered in a sticky.

I have a 01 Civic EX and I need to located and clean my EGR ports. The EGR itself was easy to clean, but I cannot find the ports. I'm a total novice, so detailed feedback would be a great help. I've heard some say it's under the intake manifold, but...I'm not sure where/what that is.

My mechanic is asking $150 for the job...should I try for it myself? I used a whole can of Seafoam and have been using Lucas as well, without any noticeable change.

Thanks guys.

Re: EGR Port Cleaning for newbie

Its very easy to locate the EGR valve. You can find it out at the driver side in any vehicle. It will be attached to the intake manifold with the bolts and there will be some connection of the vacuum tubes and the green electrical wires. So if you want to clean the EGR valve than you have to take out the EGR valve than it will be possible. So to take out the EGR valve you will have to follow some simple steps for unbolting the EGR valve and to take out. Than you can clean the EGR valve with the toothbrush also. You can do at your home also. No need to give labour charge for that.
