01' intermittent start up issues
01' intermittent start up issues
Hi,
One day last week my 2001 Honda Civic DX would not start. What happened was I turned the key and the electronics would function but the engine wouldn't turn or anything (there was a faint clicking noise though). The car head lights would not dim or show signs that there was an issue with the battery. I walk away from the car for about an hr and a half, come back and try again, and same thing happens, it doesn't start. So I figured the starter had gone.
Next day get a tow dolly go to pick it up but before I use the dolly I try to start it again and boom it starts right up. I drive it about and 1hr, get it good and hot, key off, key back on and it starts right up. Its been about 4 days and there have been no problems. So now I'm thinking its not the starter and I have no idea.
Anyone have an idea what could be going on? I would hate to have it randomly not start again.
Thanks for any help.

Re: 01' intermittent start up issues
Thanks for the response
Well it happened again so I played around down near the starter and it looks like the connection wire between the solenoid and the starter was rusted bad. So reluctantly I rigged up a new wire between the two and it started right up.
Now I just have to try and find a permanent home for the wire because the previous one goes up inside the starter assembly.
